Gary Auffart is the first full time paid Fire Chief for the Fort Mitchell Fire Department.  He provides leadership for the combination department providing emergency services, including fire protection and Advanced Life Support EMS, to the cities of Fort Mitchell, Lakeside Park and Crestview Hills.

Prior to coming to Fort Mitchell, Chief Auffart spent nearly 20 years moving up through the ranks within the Newport Fire/EMS Department serving as Fire Chief for the last almost 3 years.  He is a very proud second generation firefighter- His father recently retired with 42 years in the fire service with the Cincinnati Fire Department and the Union Township Clermont County Fire Department.

He is a 1993 graduate of Anderson High School and attended the University of Cincinnati with a focus on fire science.  He will be pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership at NKU.  He is currently a Nationally Registered Paramedic, obtained from the University of Cincinnati, operating with that license since 1998.

His community service includes work with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cincinnati and serves on the board for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati located in Newport, KY.   He is currently a member of Leadership Northern Kentucky Class of 2016 “Best Class Ever.”
